Migrate Applications

Migrate CloudHub apps after you set up a CloudHub 2.0 private space. Prepare the app, then follow the procedure for a manually created private space or an upgraded VPC.

Considerations and Limitations

Maven Plugin endpoint requirements, domain limitations, traffic sources, and POST request requirements can affect a migration in progress.

Managing Migrated Apps via Mule Maven Plugin (MMP)

To manage a migrated application using the Mule Maven Plugin (MMP), copy the public URL configured in Runtime Manager during the migration. If the endpoints specified in the publicUrl field of your pom.xml file don’t match the ones configured in the UI, the ingress configuration is lost.

CloudHub Application Default Domain

When you deploy a new CloudHub 2.0 application, avoid using the CloudHub default domain because it can cause traffic outages.

Mid-Migration Deployment Constraint

A new application that uses a vanity domain must be deployed to CloudHub 1.0 first and then migrated while a migration is active.

You can’t deploy a new application directly to CloudHub 2.0 during an active migration and use the same vanity domain.

To deploy a new application with a vanity domain during migration, use this workaround.

  1. Deploy the new application to CloudHub 1.0 first.

  2. Configure the application with the desired vanity domain on CloudHub 1.0.

  3. Migrate the newly deployed application from CloudHub 1.0 to CloudHub 2.0 using the migration tool.

  4. This preserves domain continuity and DNS routing.

Deploying directly to CloudHub 2.0 with an existing vanity domain can cause these issues.

  • Domain conflicts between the DLB and ingress controller

  • Inconsistent traffic routing through the DLB

  • DNS propagation issues

Traffic Source Awareness

For applications with inbound traffic, the Shared Load Balancer (SLB) handles traffic switching if your ingress configuration includes the default CloudHub application endpoint in the format <app_name>.<region>.cloudhub.io. However, if that default endpoint is missing and you’ve configured a vanity domain or an anypointdns.net endpoint instead, the Dedicated Load Balancer (DLB) switches the traffic.

Identify your traffic source before Step 4: Validate and Switch Traffic.

POST Request Content-Length

The CloudHub 2.0 ingress controller requires the content-length header on POST requests, even when the value is 0. Clients that omit this header fail during traffic switching.

See Traffic-Switching Prerequisites for the full precondition checklist before you switch traffic.
